A Losing Day?

Well actually no, however it was very nearly, let me tell you what happened!!

I actually knew at 10am this morning that i wouldn’t be around for the first race so decided to try and pre-empt the system. I figured that it was easy to see which horse the system was going to pick so decided, ‘what the hell, get in early as the odds were dropping quickly - it was a horse called ‘lady trucker’ or similar and i figured at this rate it was going to end up favourite as well so the early bet would have secured better odds. Additionally there was another horse running around at about 50/1 just begging for a place bet. Now the system I use does often get the placed horses right as well but its not something i choose to follow up and bet on, however on this occassion when I obviosly knew better, I bet on the best guess for the system and also on this long odds horse for a place.

When i did get back to my computer 3 things.

1. The system did not select the horse I bet on
2. The horse the system selected was the evens favourite and it won :(
3. I had missed the second race and the system chosen horse had won that as well.

Good for the system bad for me, i had blown more money than i needed to on the first race by betting the wrong 2 horses then missed the second race altogether and both times the system produced winners.

Problem is I always say stop when you have made  your target because no system, including this one is able to pick winners all day, i mean lets face it, horse racing is corrupt (allegedly) and so no system can take these things into account.  Now i am really worried as the next available bet is also a short odds bet and will take a large bit of my bank to make up the losses i made stupidly.  Add to that the fact that i felt it really unlikely that the system would produce 3 winners on the trot in the first 3 races and that they were all favourites was unusual too and i really didn’t think that it would be a winner, in fact i thought about not betting and the reason for boring you with this is because had this horse lost i had decided to pulle the plugg on the day because of offline commitments and because it felt wrong.

Luckily it was a win and therefore another winning day and a decent one but i did come close to recording my first losing day, you see this really started out as a little experiment that I was interested in but now it feels like its really my system and I want it to win always.  Although at this stage, if i lost the lot i would still not cry if i lost the lot  as my total investment was only £20 it would still be a blow, i would miss the excitement of the races and really would miss the challenge.!!

I keep my fingers crossed that no losing days need to be recorded at least til my bank is in a much healthier position.
